Scope and procedure for Monitoring Actions

The monitoring procedure for dry goods (TM) is similar to that of the monitoring for fruits and vegetables, but there are some differences: since the product range examined here is much more extensive and diverse, it is very important to focus on specific products or active ingredients that have been conspicuous in recent times. Approximately 20-25 samples are selected and analyzed from each participating member per action.

In TM, three to four actions are carried out annually, which are coordinated with the participating members in advance. To do this, the coordination office initially provides a rough selection of products (e.g. dried fruits) for an action, from which the specific products to be tested (e.g. apple rings, dried apricots, etc.) are chosen depending on the respective risk potential by the participating members through an online vote.

Within a TM action, the survey for market research is filled out and submitted by the participating members to the coordination office. After the selection of samples, they are informed of their participation in the action in a sample drawing call. The companies then independently commission the shipment of the goods to the corresponding BNN partner laboratory. The analysis data is then available in the monitoring database.

Participants in TM can see all samples after the release of results. Supplier names are not displayed in TM. For pesticides, a conspicuous sample is a sample that exceeds the BNN reference value. Drying factors, if available and applicable, are taken into account.
